After Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak accused former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad of masterminding allegations of financial scandals against him, now the Jews are being blamed for perpetrating the claims.

Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii said the claims were being carried by the 'Jewish media network' which he claimed comprised The EdgeThe Malaysian Insider and Malaysiakini, and who were supported by the Wall Street Journal, AFP, CNN, and the BBC.

"Recently allegations were made that Najib supposedlytransferred a sum of money into his personal bank accounts.

"Where is the logic and rationale for the country's number one leader doing  this merely to steal the government's money?

"Is this part of a long-term plan to push the prime minister out of office?

"Regardless whether it is true or not, that is not the point but the key is that Jewish media and propaganda are being used to slander," he said in a statement today.

Jewish media strength

Yesterday, WSJ and Sarawak Report concurrently reported on allegations that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) of 1MDB's funds were allegedly deposited into Najib's private bank accounts shortly before the 13th general election.

They said this was based on government investigation papers that had already been submitted to the attorney-general with Najib himself having seen it.

Mohd Razlan likened the allegations to the US' claim once that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and as such, that country had to be invaded.

It later turned out that these claims were untrue.

"This is the strength of the Jewish media and is the main weapon being used in bringing down influential Islamic countries," said Mohd Razlan.

Najib had denied that he took government money for personal gain and accused Mahathir of masterminding the allegations against him.
