Rosmah Mansor And The Great Bungle

Shopping therapy - how does Malaysia's 'First Housewife' manage to get such enormous cash injections into her accounts?

First of all thank you to the people who send me all this information.

Yesterday we read in the media (Sarawak Report) about some fellow depositing money (up to RM2.0 million) into someone's account.

The fellow (who is a real person) denied it was him in that report. He denied he worked for the people for whom Sarawak Report said he worked. Only to be thoroughly debunked by SR again which posted many pictures from his own Facebook which undoubtedly place him in close proximity with the people he claimed not to work for. In more easy parlance he suffered a serious case of kantoi.

Then yesterday (Friday) the Special Task Force released this Press Statement :

KENYATAAN MEDIA - Task Force 1MDB

TAN SRI ABDUL GANI PATAIL  -  Peguam Negara Malaysia

TAN SRI ZETI AKHTAR AZIZ  -  Gabenor Bank Negara Malaysia

TAN SRI KHALID ABU BAKAR  -  Ketua Polis Negara Malaysia

TAN SRI ABU KASSIM MOHAMED  -  Ketua Pesuruhjaya, Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia

10 Julai 2015

Well first of all it is NOT for the Task Force to say  "semua pihak tidak mempersoalkan kewibawaan". The public (of which the media is a part) has the right to read, discuss and form its own opinion about any matter. This is a democracy and a free country. Just by making this statement the Task Force is inviting more questions upon itself.

Anyway a great big thanks to the Task Force for acknowledging that  "pendedahan media mengenai akaun isteri Perdana Menteri, perkara itu sememangnya sudah diketahui oleh Pasukan Petugas Khas"

So Sarawak Report was not bullshitting about the existence of such an account.

Then today a lawyer claiming to represent Rosmah Mansor issued the following Press Statement :
The law firm stated that Rosmah had authorised it to issue a press release to read as follows:-
  1. The above inferences made by Sarawak Report against my client is serious, malicious, baseless and unsubstantiated.  (OSTB : 'are' serious bukan 'is'. Our client?? Instead of 'my' client?)

  2. The Bank account referred to in the above report is a personal account of my client. It was opened in 1984 whilst my client was in employment with Island & Peninsular Sdn Bhd (Now known as I&P Group Sdn Bhd) for convenience. At the material time the location of the said Company and Perwira Habib Bank Bhd (formerly the name used by Affin Bank Berhad) was situated within the same building of Wisma Equatorial (as it was then) at Jalan Sultan Ismail, KL.  (OSTB : All bank accounts are conveniences. So the bank was at Jln Sultan Ismail. This is just filler.)

  3. Pursuant to the Financial Services Act 2013 (Act 758) on Regulatory Objectives And Powers & Functions of the Bank, the principal regulatory objective is to promote financial stability. In pursuing this objective the Bank shall foster fair, responsible and professional business conduct and strive to protect the rights and interests of consumers of financiers (financial) services. Protection (of) on information and secrecy and restrictions on inquiring (inquiries) specifically into the affairs of particular customers are also provided for under the same Act.  (OSTB : errors in red)

  4. In an apparent breach of the Bank’s functions and in view of my client’s profile (at)on the national and international level. (Sentence gantung lah). It is hoped Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) (will) to immediately and/or within 72 hours conduct a probe and issue its findings into the offensive unauthorised disclosure on the part of the said Bank.  (OSTB : Again errors in red. Wow Zeti, you have two options. Option 1 : You have to immediately conduct a probe. Option 2 : You can do it in the next 72 hours. Have you done your laundry yet? Or having another bad hair day? I would go for the 72 hours.)

  5. It is my client’s view that failure by BNM to immediately conduct the said probe will erode the trust of investors and consumers of financial institutions. It will have negative perceptions on the regulations of financial institutions, payment systems, other relevant entities (may include insurances), money markets and foreign exchange markets to promote stability and for related consequential or incidental matters.  (OSTB : Oops spoke too soon. Zeti, you have to conduct the probe immediately.)
  6. The privacy and secrecy restrictions must be strictly adhered, to retain the integrity, security, respect and confidence of the Malaysian banking & financial systems and processes. Failure to curb the current negative trends may eventually spread to other related entities.  (OSTB : So Zeti it sounds like this is all your fault - 'Failure to curb'. Itulah tak mahu retire gracefully. You asked and they kept extending your job contract. You never expected the "hound from hell" to break loose on your watch. Religious freaks, its just a metaphor ok - from the movies. There is no such thing as a "hound from hell" in real life.)

  7. The Sarawak Report in the inferences made against my client has conducted itself in the most irresponsible and blatant misrepresentation of its statements with malicious intent to discredit and defame, to reduce the credibility and integrity of my client being the wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia.  (OSTB : Yes I believe that has been achieved. Though apportioning blame may not be too tricky.)

  8. In view of the serious inferences by Sarawak Report made against Rosmah Mansor, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is urged to consider and deemed appropriate should the content be proven to be offensive and in breach of Malaysian Laws, take the necessary action pursuant to the MCMC Act 1998 (Act 588).  (OSTB : Oh oh, the MCMC pula. That would be the religious guy. Sounds like a nationwide manhunt.)

  9. My client have (has) not committed any criminal offence or any misappropriation of funds and strongly denies any links to (???) the funds being from 1MDB. The report is deemed to be indecent, menacing, false and is intended to annoy or harass my client.

  10. Clare Rewcastle Brown is publicly known to be the editor-in-chief of Sarawak Report. By issuing improper and incorrect reporting (reports) against my client and in the spirit of responsible journalism must stand (by) and justify by (??)  the story it reports.  (OSTB : Err...somehow I get the feeling that is what they will do.)

  11. My client appeals for responsible reporting of any facts, to have ethical and moral obligations of fairness and accuracy.

Ok thank you. Letih.

Someone sent me the following. (Thank you maha-atma) :

Syed,

Read your blog once in a while. A while ago, there was this piece of pre-GST newshttp://goo.gl/6Lhh7D. An excerpt:

"We have to make beautiful clothes to attend functions, but the prices are way too high. For those who can afford, it's alright.
"But what about housewives like us, with no income?" she said"

Yup that is exactly the point.  How can you expect a housewife with no income to have any type of respectable bank balance?

How can you expect a housewife with no income to have RM2.0 Million in her account?

Shame on you Clare Rewcastle. Shame on you.
