UMNO YOUTH SHOCKER: Arrest & probe, blocking website not enough

UMNO YOUTH SHOCKER: Arrest & probe, blocking website not enough
IPOH - Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun wants the authorities to act if there is proof of attempts to disrupt the political, national security and the economic stability of this country.
“Do not dilly dally. If there is proof, the authorities must make arrests and conduct investigations,” he told reporters at an Aidilfitri event here today.
Khairul Azwan urged the authorities to arrest the individuals behind the Sarawak Report and conduct an investigation.
“If it is proven that the Sarawak Report had lied, the authorities must make arrests, investigate them and not just block access to the website.”
Yesterday, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) blocked access to the Sarawak Report website as it was deemed a threat to national security.
The MCMC statement said the decision followed information and complaints received from the public that the website had been posting unverified reports.
In Sibu, United People’s Party (UPP) Youth chief Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa said individuals suspected of having a motive to topple the government should be monitored closely.
He said such individuals, especially foreigners, posed a serious threat to national security and should be stopped before they caused more damage to this country.
“This type of people should be barred from coming to this country,” he said when commenting on alleged attempts to topple the government by destabilising the country and jeopardising national security.
Thai police said PetroSaudi International Ltd (PSI) former executive Xavier Andre Justo allegedly met with several people to sell classified information.
On June 24, Thai police arrested Justo for allegedly attempting to blackmail PSI, the Saudi Arabia-based company linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
It was reported that Swiss national Justo had met with Malaysian Opposition leaders and a media owner in Singapore prior to his arrest in Thailand. - Therakyatpost
