YOU LIED! Auditor-General can release interim 1MDB report anytime - Nur Jazlan refutes Kiandee
The onus is on Auditor-General Ambrin Buang to make public the interim report on the National Audit Department's investigation into 1MDB, parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamed said.
The PAC did not prepare the report, nor does it own it, Nur Jazlan said when contacted yesterday.
"You go and ask the auditor-general. If Ambrin Buang makes the decision to release the report, then there is no problem. The report is ready," he told Malaysiakini.
The interim audit report was submitted to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on July 9. The PAC is not allowed to reveal the interim report until it submits its own report to Parliament.
It is understood that the interim report is not covered under the Official Secrets Act 1972.
Calls for the interim report to be made public followed Finance Minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah's claim that the interim report had cleared 1MDB of any wrongdoing.
Won't comment on DPM's stand
Following this, Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, who has access to the report as a member of PAC, challenged Husni's claim.
Pua claimed that the interim report addressed allegations by Sarawak Report and addressed claims that the website had used tampered documents to implicate 1MDB.
Asked to verify Pua's comment, Nur Jazlan only said: "That is his opinion."
Thus far, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Umno supreme council member Reezal Merican Naina Merican have also made calls for the interim report to be made public.
Nur Jazlan, who is also an Umno supreme council member, was reluctant to comment on the position taken by Muhyiddin and Reezal. - M'kini
