BACK IN SAMY & UMNO'S GRIP: MIC’s problems coming to an end with election of Subra as president?

BACK IN SAMY & UMNO'S GRIP: MIC’s problems coming to an end with election of Subra as president?
KUALA LUMPUR - MIC’s 9th president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam has assured that MIC’s troubles were now behind them, now that the election has ended.
“As the elected president and the authority given under the MIC constitution, it is possible for us to do more things than we were able to do.
“We don’t want trouble, but what we overcame before we overcome in future,” he said at a press conference after he was announced as the party’s number one.
The Health Minister then thanked all branch leaders for having faith in him in what he called “nominations in extraordinary circumstances”.
Despite the commotion today, Subramaniam noted that leaders stayed calm and because of that they managed to keep the peace at the headquarters.
“I accept this post and realise the responsibility ahead of me now but am confident of bringing change to the party and elevate the welfare of the Indians.”
Earlier today, a fight broke out between two groups at the MIC headquarters at 4pm today that left a few people with bloody faces and even injured a Tamil paper subeditor.
Subramaniam stated that MIC will now work on their war room for the next General Election.
Newly elected MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam (left) says the party will now work on its war room for the 14th General Election
He stated that he will allow those that were not with him to get back into the party.
“After all the election processes are over, we welcome those that did not file their branch nominations back to the party.”
Subramaniam was today named president after he was not opposed during the party’s presidential nominations.
The former deputy president received 450 nominations for the president’s post from 2,700 branch chairmen.
MIC had made headlines of late with the constant bickering between two camps that have split the party in two, one lead by former party president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel and one led by acting president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
Things came to a boiling point as a result of the Registrar of Societies (RoS) issuing a notice on Dec 5 last year, requesting the party to hold re-elections, following irregularities in the 2013 election. - Therakyatpost
