By others do you mean ppl from Bangladesh, Indonesia…?

Who exactly was minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob referring to when he said the country would suffer a worse fate by being governed by “others” should Umno fail?

Ismail-Sabri-Yaakob

I apologise in advance for being unable to let go of some statements, previous and present, made by Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the new Rural and Regional Development Minister.
Well-known for making senseless and parochial statements as opposed to those that appeal to reason and logic, he has a penchant for blaming others for the many problems his own party Umno created.
Once, as Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industy, he directed that all pasar tani traders who continued buying supplies from middlemen have their trading licences revoked. Then, recently he blamed the controversial RM2.6 billion “donation” squarely on the lack of political funding legislation, which according to him, was the result of the Opposition’s unwillingness to cooperate.
Now, he is asking that the Malays and other Bumiputeras continue supporting Umno and BN, failing which the country would be ruled by “others”.
What exactly did Ismail Sabri mean by the use of the term “others” was never defined. Did he mean other Malaysians besides Umno members? Did he mean non-Malays and non-Bumiputera Malaysians? Did he mean foreigners? Seriously, how does one interpret a statement of this nature?
He effectively did say however that only Umno was capable of protecting the interests of the Malays and other Bumiputeras. Is this true? Let’s look at the crisis besetting the country today. Is the crisis due to Malay interests being compromised, and if so, by whom?
In all honesty, I cannot see how the controversies surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad are strictly related to the interests of ordinary Malays and other Bumiputeras. How did the wheeling and dealing of land purchases; buying of overpriced assets; shifting of mega amounts of money in and out of the country; and investing in ventures even Cabinet ministers knew nothing of, benefit ordinary Malays and Bumiputeras?
And may I know who is effecting all these “dealings”, “investments” and “ventures” if not Umno leaders themselves and those directed by them?
It is nonsense to expect us to accept that each time things go wrong, a clarion call is made about how the current mess has affected the interests of the Malays. Look, ordinary Malays did not cause it or benefit from it, neither did the non-Malays.
It is ridiculous for Ismail Sabri to demand that all slanderous allegations against Umno and the party president be rejected. First, were all the allegations slanderous to begin with? Second, in a democracy, we do not immediately reject, discard or “bury” allegations; we answer them truthfully with acceptable and credible explanations.
I refuse to accept that Malaysia has reached a stage where leaders can avoid answering allegations by resorting to the unreasonable use of power or the devious use of racial and religious sentiments.
This is not the Malaysia I know, no matter the depths we have sunk to recently.
Ismail Sabri should explain more explicitly what he meant by “the country will be ruled by others” should Umno fall. Are Malays and Bumiputera in PKR, GHB, and DAP not Malaysians? Are non-Malays and non-Bumiputera in BN and PR not Malaysians too? Alternatively, was Ismail Sabri saying that if Umno falls, those from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Indonesia will rule this country instead?
