Either Rahman or AG has lied, says Nurul

She calls for Najib's arrest, recalling her father's trial on charges of interfering with police investigations.

PETALING JAYA: Someone has lied about the authenticity of a charge sheet against Prime Minister Najib Razak, and that someone is either BN strategist Abdul Rahman Dahlan or Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali, according to PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

In a press statement today, she echoed other opposition leaders in saying that Rahman’s recent statements to The Star Online were virtually an admission that the charge sheet was authentic. She contrasted this with Apandi’s earlier statement that it was fake.

“Who is lying now?” she asked.

Referring to Rahman’s statement that Najib stopped the filing of charges against him, she said this was a “clear” case of power abuse.

“Clearly an arrest must be made to demonstrate that our agencies are not pliable by the desires of some emperor-like PM,” she said.

She recalled that her father, Anwar Ibrahim, in a 1999 trial that was “condemned by the International Commission of Jurists,” was found guilty on four charges of corruption under the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance for interfering with police investigations against him.

She said Rahman’s statement was no less an allegation that Najib interfered in investigations against him.

“These continuous obstructions of justice must stop,” she said. “An immediate investigation into obstruction and interference arising from the charge sheet revelation must commence.”
