‘Hidden hands’ directing police against MACC

“The police won’t do mad work at 1am unless they are being directed by someone.”

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) special operations director Bahri Mohamad Zin does not rule out the possibility that “hidden hands” were directing the on-going police crackdown against the agency and others.
Bahri voiced this suspicion at a media briefing after he was grilled by a Bukit Aman team under section 124 of the Penal Code for “activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy”.
“MACC’s DPP Ahmad Sazalee Abdul Khairi was arrested at 1am on Saturday,” he complained. “The police won’t do mad work like this unless they are being directed by someone.”
Bahri himself was interrogated by police for three hours on Monday at his office on the draft charge sheet which appeared in the Sarawak Report. “I am certain the leak was not from the MACC,” said Bahri. “The police want to find out who leaked the draft charge sheet.”
The police have since released MACC ex-Advisor Rashpal Singh and an officer with the AG’s Chambers, Jessica Gurmeet Kaur, after both were held for questioning in connection with the draft charge sheet.
