PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has urged a royal intervention in an apparent spat between the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

This was over the arrest of several MACC investigators who are probing the RM2.6 billion deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's private bank accounts and also the police raid on their offices and homes.

Coincidentally, the MACC also brought six police officers to court today on corruption charges.

"This development is worrying and if allowed to fester, may have negative implication on the stability and security of the nation.

"Seeing that both agencies are under the jurisdiction of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, I therefore respectfully request that he convene the Conference of Malay Rulers to resolve this conflict," he said in a press statement today,

Shamsul attributed the ongoing conflict between two agencies to political interference aiming at blocking the graft buster's investigation involving the prime minister.

Police have insisted that it was not interfering in the MACC's investigation, as it was only probing claims of information leak by the commission.

However, MACC deputy chief commissioner Mustafar Ali had said the police's move has disrupted its investigation as its investigators equipment, including laptops, have been confiscated.

Shamsul, who is Bukit Katil MP, this morning visited the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya along with several other opposition leaders to show support to the commission amid political pressure.

He also urged MACC chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed and his deputy Mohd Shukri Abdull, who are on leave amid the financial scandal, to show leadership in the battle against corruption.
