Is draft charge sheet against Najib real or not, asks DAP

DAP's Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang says the contradiction between the comments from the Attorney-General and the Inspector-General of Police is very apparent and suggests there was indeed a charge sheet implicating Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. – The Malaysian Insider pic, August 9, 2015.DAP's Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang says the contradiction between the comments from the Attorney-General and the Inspector-General of Police is very apparent and suggests there was indeed a charge sheet implicating Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. – The Malaysian Insider pic, August 9, 2015.The Attorney-General (A-G) and police must clarify their contradictory responses to the draft charge sheet against the prime minister for corruption which was leaked to website Sarawak Report, DAP said today.
The party's parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang noted that A-G Tan Sri Mohamad Apandi Ali had said the draft charge sheet was a fake.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, however, later said that several anti-graft agency officers were being investigated to find out how a copy of the draft could have been leaked and uploaded on the UK-based website.
"The new Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamad Apandi Ali had in the first instance dismissed the draft charge sheet as false, and if so, this should be the end of the story.
"When the police arrested and interrogated MACC officers in relation to the draft charge sheet, does it mean that there was in fact such a draft corruption charge sheet against Najib in the premises of MACC, and that this draft charge sheet had leaked out to the social media?
"Which is which?," Lim said in a statement today.
On July 30, Sarawak Report uploaded what it claimed was a draft charge sheet of a corruption charge against Datuk Seri Najib Razak in relation to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of debt-ridden state investor 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
SRC International is now owned by the Finance Ministry, which Najib heads.
Apandi, who became the new A-G on July 28, announced in a statement on July 31 that the draft charge sheet was false, and that its emergence online was part of a conspiracy against the prime minister.
Khalid however, said that police were investigating the alleged leak of official information to Sarawak Report.
Seven MACC officers have since been questioned over the matter, and offices of the agency's special operations division raided. This division is leading investigations into SRC International.
Lim today questioned if the draft charge sheet against Najib as disclosed by Sarawak Report was a "figment of the imagination" or not.
If police were investigating the leak of such information, "why then did the new Attorney-General tell an untruth denying as a fake the draft charge sheet," he added.
The DAP politician said the best thing the government should do now is to reinstate the two MACC officers who were suddenly transferred out of the agency.
He also called for a full inquiry into the "complete breakdown of orderly governance and rule of law".
