YOURSAY 'When Gan asked about chickens, Wee talked about ducks.'

State stand on PM, Gan tells MCA 'sleepwalkers'

Wg321: How is MCA going to win the hearts and minds of the Chinese if the party does not have any official stand on serious national issues such as 1MDB, the RM2.6 billion in Prime Minister Najib Razak’s personal accounts, the persecution of officers in the task force from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Attorney-General's Chambers who are investigating 1MDB, etc?

When former MCA vice-president Gan Ping Sieu asked questions about chickens, party deputy chief Wee Ka Siong instead talked about ducks. MCA should have an official stand on national issues affecting the people, even if they did not attend cabinet meetings.

MCA deserved to be officially insulted and humiliated on stage by the Negri Sembilan menteri besar recently. How are they to earn respect from the Chinese?

Anonymous_1371477558: Wee, what kind of an answer is this? Gan asked MCA leaders to make a stand, but you answered you and president Liow Tiong Lai were not around when the cabinet was briefed.

Do you or do you not know what is going on? If you do, would you and Liow state your stand? I'm not a MCA member and looking at the performance of MCA top brass, who indeed wants to be a member?

Ipoh PP: Wee said, “I was hospitalised at that time, whereas Liow was on an official trip overseas, and both of us were absent from the meeting."

This says it all. My God, is this how MCA representatives in cabinet reply? Then what the hell are you being paid a minister's salary with perks for? Gaji buta?

Dont Just Talk: Lucky for you, Wee, for not being present during Najib's cabinet briefing on the 1MDB financial scandal, but it does not make any difference if you were present or not for the simple reason that MCA leaders are eunuchs and look upon by Malaysians as wall flowers, there for decoration.

Gan is just a voice in the wilderness, and what about the backdoor deputy minister Chong Sin Woon, who is MCA Youth leader? He was quick on the draw to condemn DAP leaders but is silence on 1MDB.

When the 14th GE arrives, even Liow will find it difficult to defend his Bentong parliamentary seat against angry voters.

Vijay47: Wee, your response was exactly the kind of blinkered subservient attitude that Gan was referring to.

It is well and good to view Umno's and Najib's glasses as being half-full, but not when they are filled to the brim with slush from the sewers.

As a member of BN, you no doubt have to practise some unity, but morsels of accountability and self-respect are equally called for in the face of continuous and numerous serious failings.

Gan had spoken out against several issues where MCA had chosen to keep quiet, and you have replied to only a few of them. Worse, you came out with that tired and ridiculous justification that "the donation issue was explained by the PM".

Had our prime minister been that credible, there would have been no more 1MDB issue for anyone to fret over.

Wee and MCA, if you believe that this servile stand will earn you favours and affection from Umno, you err grievously, as the only consequence, as in the case of academic Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, would be further contempt from your masters.

CQ Muar: Wee, what Gan commented was absolutely true and correct. Your excuses, in fact, are lame and unjustifiable. MCA has been keeping silent and remained uncommitted throughout the scandals involving BN and Najib.

Nothing is more important to you than your 'future' and prospect as a coalition partner in BN. Therefore, we reiterate that your representation in the ruling government is obsolete. It's an eyesore and a revulsion to the Chinese community.

Onyourtoes: Both of you are the same. It is useless to blame each other. It is in MCA's DNA. Gan, if you are a MP or minister today, you too would say nothing. As for Wee, the ministerial post is all that matters. MCA should just die off.

Tell the Truth: The president and deputy president of MCA just don't have the guts to make any stand because their posts as ministers are more important to them than the ills of the nation.

GE14Now: MCA stands for 'Most Cowardly Association' so don't expect any brave stand from them. If they had an ounce of integrity in them, they would have made their stand known long ago.

Anonymous_1416272691: Haven't you guys realised? Nobody is asking MCA for help lately and the reason is obvious.

People have already totally disregarded MCA. The party is in ‘dreamland’ and Gan has described it rightly that MCA is in sleepwalking mode. -Mkini
