NAJIB DEFENDS ROSMAH: She's not involved in running country

NAJIB DEFENDS ROSMAH: She's not involved in running country
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has denied that his wife Rosmah Mansor is involved in the country's administration.
He said this when commenting on his defamation suit against DAP parliamentarian Nga Kor Ming who had claimed that Rosmah had once participated in a cabinet meeting.
Nga had posted on his Facebook page a photograph of Rosmah with Najib and several other ministers, claiming that she was attending a cabinet meeting.
However, Najib said the photograph was not that of a cabinet meeting but merely a discussion when they were overseas.
"Together with two or three ministers and the ambassador, we were discussing whether we could return to Malaysia as the former Perak sultan, Azlan Shah, had just passed away.
"My wife was there as well as I was then on an official trip to China.
"So I sued him (Nga) because he claimed that this was a cabinet meeting.
"It is not true that my wife is involved in the country's administration," Najib said before officiating the Bandar Tun Razak Umno division meeting in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur today.
Najib, in his personal capacity, and Rosmah had filed the suit against Nga on June 11.
Najib claimed the allegedly defamatory words used by Nga implied that he had abused his power and mandate as a prime minister for his personal interest or his wife’s interest by allowing her to intervene in government affairs.
Injunction sought
Rosmah on the other hand said the words implied that she was a selfish woman who only thought about herself.
They said that though the defendant had removed the picture from the Facebook page, it was still accessible on two blogs which had 25,360,055 and 6,626,986 page views, respectively, as of the date the writ of summons was filed.
Najib and Rosmah are seeking general damages, aggravated damages, exemplary damages, interests, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.
They are also seeking an injunction to restrain Nga or his assistant or agent from republishing the defamatory words, besides a written apology from Nga to be published in newspapers and magazines. - M'kini
