NAZRI KILLS HIS OWN CREDIBILITY SUCKING UP TO NAJIB: Minister attacks 'irrational' Dr M

Dr Mahathir Mohamad was reminded of his far from sterling track record as prime minister for more than two decades.

According to Culture and Tourism Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz, Mahathir appears to have forgotten about this episode.

"I think Mahathir has forgotten. He believes things were fine and good when he was prime minister... It was during his time that our legal system was ravaged.

"His record is terrible and he wants to say there is no democracy now. If there is no democracy, his blog would have been shut down a long time ago," he told reporters.

The vocal minister was responding to Mahathir's latest blog post that democracy has perished under the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Nazri also believes that vengeance drives Mahathir to continue churning out salvos on Najib, but did not elaborate.

"It is his anger towards the prime minister. He issues statements based on anger and not rationality.

"Let him be with his anger, there is no need to entertain him. I have not paid any attention to what he says for a long time," he added.

Nazri also lambasted the former premier for stating that street protests could be the last resort to pressure Najib to resign.

"I want to ask Mahathir, when he was prime minister, did he entertain this (street protests).

"Didn't he use the ISA (Internal Security Act) against those who wanted to cause chaos?" asked the Umno supreme council member.

Mahathir’s tenure as prime minister is viewed as two decades of iron-fist rule, where voices of dissent were not tolerated.

It was during his premiership that more than 100 activists and opposition leaders were arrested under the ISA in a dragnet known as Operasi Lalang. - M'kini
