Several reports have been lodged by the public with the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission against Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa and Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal for obstruction of investigations.
The reports were made by people furious over the actions taken against two MACC directors – special operations division director Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin and strategic communications director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (prevention) Datuk Mustafar Ali confirmed the reports and said the commission would refer them to the legal department before taking action.
"Yes, there are reports lodged but by the public not my men," he said tonight, just hours after denying that his officers had made such a complaint.
Mustafar in a statement issued earlier denied a news article that stated the reports were lodged by MACC officers.
He said the article was baseless and done to damage the good relations between government agencies and the top officials.
Zabidi issued transfer orders for Bahri and Rohaizad on Friday, citing “disciplinary problems.” The duo were supposed to report to the Prime Minister's Department for duty but the order was cancelled at the last minute after Ali met them on Monday.
Both were immediately reinstated to their posts in MACC following public outcry.
Bahri, who heads a special investigation team investigating former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd, was dissatisfied after being grilled by the police last week as part of their investigation into a leak on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad probe.
Bahri hinted there was a hidden hand in the police’s action and vowed to find the people who had ordered the raid at his office.
Rohaizad, on the other hand, received a group of opposition politicians who turned up at the MACC headquarters to show support.
