The sentiment to demonstrate among the general public is no longer high, although there is a feeling of dissatisfaction against the government, says Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
He said this was proven since 1998 when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sacked as deputy prime minister.
"The people have become rational and they think about the long term. After 2013, the people are no longer keen (to demonstrate)," he told reporters after an Aidilfitri gathering at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Bukit Mewah in Johor Baru today.
If there is a rally that breaches the law and held without the permission of the police, do not go, he added.
He also hoped the organiser would get permission from the police to hold the rallies. – Bernama
