ROGUE PM NAJIB: BN allies start to worry about GE14
KOTA KINABALU - A Sabah-based Barisan Nasional component party has expressed its worries that the ruling government may not make a comeback in the next general election if existing issues were not resolved fast.
Describing religion, double standards and racism as among the troubling issues in the country, Liberal Democratic Party deputy president Datuk Chin Su Phin, who is known for being vocal, said with the 14th general election merely two years away, it was vital for the Umno and BN government to take positive steps towards transformation.
“The future of BN is at stake with these prevailing, unresolved issues affecting the coalition. Malaysians’ patience has its limits.
“BN may not win a fresh mandate in the coming general election if the circumstances become intolerable to the people,” he cautioned during the LDP joint meeting for 14 west coast divisions here on Sunday.
The Borneo Post reported him as saying that there was no room for hesitation and procrastination any more, and that the BN and Umno leaders must act fast to implement their positive steps towards radical reformation once they had identified their future direction.
Chin noted that AirAsia Bhd Group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes had hit out at the government and politicians for spending too much time on race and religion, rather than putting the interests of the people first.
“Personally, I couldn’t agree with him more.
“Incidents such as theLow Yat Plaza brawl, ban on unmarried couples from selecting couple seats in cinema and forced removal of a cross should not have happened in a multiracial country like Malaysia.”
In one of the sarong incidents was exposed, Chin pointed out that only the minister apologised while no officials were penalised for denying entry of a woman into the government department because of the length of her skirt.
“As a BN component party, LDP strongly opposes unreasonable bureaucracy and misconduct of government officers.”

On the forced removal of a cross affixed to a church in Selangor, he said that it had clearly violated the Sedition Act.
“One of the individuals who protested outside the church was the brother of the Inspector-General of Police. To date, no action has been taken in that incident.
“The BN government must remain neutral and impartial in handling sensitive and extremist issues, especially in taking action against law offenders.”
Chin believed that the majority of Malaysians, comprising people from multiracial backgrounds, were peace loving and practised moderation and open mindedness.
“We can suppress the spread of extremist ideology as long as we are united,” Chin concluded. - http://www.therakyatpost.com/
