YOURSAY ‘All eyes will be on the supreme council when it meets next month.’

I smell Umno plot to topple gov't, says Zahid

Commentable: DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, I don't know what you have been sniffing but it is affecting your sense of smell. Anything that stinks to high heaven and you say it smells heavenly and anything good you say it stinks.

Yes, for self-preservation and self-interest, you can even betray your own nose. But the gist of the matter is that the majority of right-thinking Malaysians want a tainted, dishonest, lying, ruthless PM to step down. This is not toppling the government, it is showing him where the exit door is.

Many ways can be done to convey this message. It can be something in writing such through statutory declarations (SD), or vocally such as the speech made by the courageous Langkawi Umno delegate Anina Saaduddin or even a protest such as the upcoming Bersih 4 event.

But of course, your "trusted sources" may have the same ailment as yours, all having the nose planted in between the rear posterior somewhere. Malaysians see nothing but a new genre of breaking bad in Malaysia, and it's obnoxious.

Not Convinced: If Zahid is to be the next prime minister of Malaysia, he will have to first remove Muhyiddin Yassin from his deputy president’s post in Umno.

Otherwise, should Najib step down, Muhyiddin will have as much claim to the PM’s post as Zahid. After all, traditionally the Umno deputy president is also DPM.

Apparently, the reason why the Umno supreme council was put off last month was because Najib-Zahid faction was not certain of having the numbers at the meeting to sack Muhyiddin.

So all eyes will be on the supreme council when it meets next month (under the Umno constitution, the supreme council must meet at least once every two months).

But removing Muhyiddin will not be as easy as when Mahathir kicked Anwar Ibrahim out of Umno. Mahathir used the sodomy allegation against Anwar to win over doubtful members of the supreme council.

That’s why Zahid is talking about a certain Umno leader (read: Muhyiddin) plotting with the opposition to overthrow the government.

The stage is being set for Muhyiddin’s ouster. Now let’s see if members of Umno supreme council will take the bait.

Aries46: If Zahid's ghost story conspiracy theories is to create fear among the delegates that they are at risk of being deprived of their gravy train (Najib and his donation), he not only underestimates the intelligence of the Umno members but makes himself sound desperate that his plum seat and avenue for the pinnacle is under threat.

If the ruling regime has lost the rakyat's confidence, what is so illegal about proposing a vote of confidence in Parliament?

Pemerhati: “As the deputy prime minister, as the vice-president of Umno, I will not allow this to happen,” said Zahid.

Zahid’s opposition to this rumoured constitutional and legal move is understandable. This is because he has gone through a lot of trouble to arrange to bring in 1.5 million Bangladeshi workers so that his brother could rake in billions.

Mushiro: Why is it that so many groups inside and outside of Umno are trying to topple Najib? Obviously Najib has crossed the limit of human tolerance and the amount embezzled is too huge for human acceptance.

Why is it that Umno leaders like Zahid, Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Salleh Said Keruak and police chief Khalid Abu Bakar are 101 percent behind Najib? Obviously these people are being well-rewarded and expecting higher positions.

Anonymous 731691434514996: Umno are masters at sandiwara. So someone in Umno is out to topple the government, says Zahid. The government is an Umno-BN government responsible for the gross mismanagement that has brought the country to its knees.

If this someone from Umno succeeds in toppling the current Najib government, the government will still remain an Umno-BN government.

The driver and crew may be changed but the rubbish truck remains the same vehicle which is taking the entire country to the dumps. What Malaysians need to do is to forcibly tow the rubbish truck to the junkyard and have it crushed and smelted down.

And to tow the rubbish truck to the junkyard, the Malays must step forward because they have the numbers. And all of the institutions of power controlled by the Malays must pave the way for this to happen.

This will save Malaysia and give Malaysians a chance with an entirely new leader driving a totally a new vehicle to transport Malaysia into the future.

Ferdtan: Zahid is talking rubbish. It is definitely the wrong word to use to say that the alleged move was to topple the BN government when they have to include large number of BN MPs for it to be successful.

Isn’t it ridiculous that BN lawmakers are toppling their own government? What he should have said, and he knows it, that it was possibly an attempt to topple Najib, not the government per se.

If the minister were to look at the number of MPs in parliament, he would be made to look like a person who shoots without facts. There are total 222 MPs. Assuming all DAP MPs (37), PKR (30), we are generous to include independent ex-Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim, and say half of PAS MPs (say 10) - the other half are loyal to president Abdul Hadi Awang who are supporting Najib - then they need at least 34 BN MPs to vote with them making it a majority of 112 in a vote of no confidence against Najib.

That BN number is almost half of the opposition total number so how can it be said that it was to overthrow the BN government?

Keanjin: If an Umno leader is leading an attempt to topple the government, something is really wrong with the government.

Asitis: A vote of no confidence is a constitutionally legal way in a Westminster democracy to remove a PM who clearly no longer enjoys the confidence of the majority of the rakyat.

So don't go confusing people that there is a sinister plan afoot to topple the government.

TC Chan: It’s the first time I hear that statutory declarations can topple a government. Anyway what is wrong if Umno wants to remove its president? This is parliamentary democracy at work.

Zahid is acting in a manner detrimental to parliamentary democracy if he takes action against those wishing to oust Najib as Umno president.

SSDhaliwal: Changing government through democratic means even through backdoor deals, which is something Umno is familiar with, is not illegal and certainly not toppling the government which would involve a coup using the military.

How can that be when Umno controls the military? This is just another red herring and a subtle thereat from the home minister.

Turvy: There's a long, long queue to topple us. First in line are bearded Jews; then decadent Americans, followed by bloody Brits.

Just ahead of the Whites and a blond broad waving a report are them Nigerians, Bosnians and Old Genghis himself all the way from Ulan Bator, riding a black steed to avenge his fair maiden scattered on our soil; Ambiga who eats no burgers, an Edge that will not blunt and cleaners called Bersih; then there are commies and socialists, a few socialites dancing with Paris Hilton, newspapers of all shades, but none as holy as our ‘apa nama’.

There is also one Kit Siang and only one leading his son, that son with sons of Karpal and a nut called Rule of Law; Anwar, his wife, children and the neighbour's cat and believe it or not, Muslims too, past out of fair Kelantan with, you won’t believe it, past and present Umno leaders, now upset that the gravy train stops at no stations but one.

And who is at the head of the toppling line - sounds like, smells like, looks like - oh, it’s a mirror. -Mkini
