The Selangor government today admitted that various campaigns held in the last three years to get the public to save water had failed.
State Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Agriculture Modernisation and Agro-based Industry Permanent Committee chairman Zaidy Abdul Talib said despite the campaigns, statistics showed that an individual in Selangor utilised between 235 and 250 litres of water daily.
If the trend were to continue, it would result in wastage of 880 million litres of water by 2020, he told the Selangor State Assembly sitting today.
He was responding to a supplementary question from Yeo Bee Yin (DAP-Damansara Utama) who wanted to know the progress of the state's save water campaigns.
To an oral question from Khasim Abdul Aziz (PAS-Lembah Jaya) on measures taken to prevent water supply disruption or rationing, Zaidy said a consultant had been appointed to identify new water sources. – Bernama
