The two senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers who were immediately transferred to the Prime Minister's Department two days ago will meet with Chief Secretary to the Government Ali Hamsa and Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Mohamad Zabidi Zainal tomorrow to discuss their transfers.

Following this development, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim has urged all parties to remain calm as the issue could be resolved amicably.

"I am convinced that although this is an administrative matter, the government can resolve it. We do not want the public to lose faith in the government enforcement agencies," Shahidan told a press conference after chairing the Perlis Umno liaison committee meeting in Padang Besar today.

Shahidan was commenting on the recent transfer of two MACC officers, the director of its Special Operations Division Bahri Mohamad Zin and director of its Strategic Communications, Rohaizad Yaakob (wearing tie in photo).

Bahri was heading the division which was investigating SRC International Sdn Bhd over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue, while Rohaizad received a visit from a group of opposition leaders at the Putrajaya MACC headquarters and had a dialogue session with them.

On another development, Shahidan, who is also Perlis Umno chief, said the state Umno was making preparations to welcome Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to simultaneously open the delegates' meetings of the Kangar, Padang Besar and Arau Umno divisions.

Bernama understands that the event will be held at Dewan 2020 on Aug 23, with an expected turnout of more than 12,000 people.

In SHAH ALAM, Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron urged all parties, including Umno members, not to make any statements on the transfer of the MACC senior officers to avoid unwarranted reactions.

Idris said the transfers should be accepted rationally as it was a normal process, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Speaking to reporters after opening the Kota Raja Umno division delegates' meeting today, Idris said Umno members should be united in fighting off current political challenges and not quarrel among themselves.
