WHY IS MAHATHIR PROSTITUTING HIMSELF TO DAP?

mt2014-corridors-of-power
One thing that is certainly very visible is that Mahathir has become so desperate that he is pouring money into DAP’s advertising campaign. How much is Mahathir spending on DAP? Does this mean Mahathir is using DAP? If so then why is DAP whacking Mahathir and biting the hand that feeds it?
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
It is very hard to figure out whether Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is using DAP or whether DAP is using Mahathir. From the looks of it, however, DAP appears to be using Mahathir rather than the other way around. Or maybe both are using each other, like a prostitute-client relationship. But then who is the prostitute in this whole relationship?
Kua Kia Soong probably summed it up well today when he wrote in Free Malaysia Today:
The name calling by DAP leaders we thought was only reserved for the PAS leaders has now been used against PKR leaders as well.
After months of name calling against the PAS President Hadi Awang, which can only be described as ‘kurang ajar’, Pakatan Rakyat was officially disbanded on 16 June 2015 after the DAP declared it could no longer work with PAS. It was a sad day for all Malaysians who had hopes for a viable alternative to the Barisan Nasional.
The long-term effect of such uncouth bad mouthing of the PAS leader remains to be seen. The DAP will have to measure the relative weight of their token Malays in the party against the loathing towards DAP among not only Umno supporters but now also PAS supporters.
Is this behaviour the result of insensitivity, the lack of wisdom or naked opportunism that has blinded the DAP leaders to common sense needed to engage with PAS leaders and members if they are genuinely interested in “winning over Malays to the DAP”?
The DAP is now willing and able to work with the man who has been responsible for privatising practically all of Malaysian industry and destroying whatever semblance of democracy we had in his 22 years in office – all because of the stated need to “save Malaysia”.
Malaysia needs to be saved from neo-liberal capitalism that was unleashed by Mahathir when he came to power in 1981.
Mahathir is indeed the “father of neo-liberalism in Malaysia” after selling off our national assets through his privatisation policies in his 22 years, our national resources hived off to crony capitalists under the guise of affirmative action. Mahathir succeeded in creating private Malay capitalists out of the erstwhile state capitalists who had entrenched their power after May 13, 1969.
Kua does not appear impressed that Mahathir is now DAP’s mascot or icon in the so-called ‘Save Malaysia’ movement. In fact, the way he is talking seems to suggest that DAP has deviated from the true cause. Kua is even suggesting that everything is not entirely kosher in the way DAP and PKR are running the two states under their control.
One thing very clear with what Kua wrote is that DAP never stays true to their partner and in the end will stab them in the back. In fact, if you can remember, almost 20 years ago it was DAP who brought to the world’s attention that there were sodomy allegations against Anwar Ibrahim. Before that it was mere whispers such as the whispers regarding Lim Guan Eng’s affair with ‘Rainbow’, which may or may not be true.
No doubt there were already rumours and even a book written about Anwar’s sexploits. But it was not until DAP raised the matter in Parliament that people began to take notice. And when Karpal Singh said he met the victim and got the story from the victim’s mouth, most people became convinced that the allegation was not mere rumours but was true after all.
So DAP, to a certain extent, was instrumental in Anwar’s downfall. And when he fell, DAP was the first to pick him up and make him the de facto opposition leader. And now that Anwar is in jail, DAP is making Mahathir the de facto opposition leader, the same man who they also condemn.
Yes, it is certainly very puzzling when you look at the DAP-PKR-Mahathir relationship. Is it a love-hate relationship or merely of one acting the prostitute to the other? If you look at the advertisements below, it definitely looks like some sort of commercial arrangement with no real love involved.
I suppose when desperation sets in people tend to do crazy things that defy logic. And what Mahathir is doing certainly defies logic. Or is it he just has one mother of a thick skin?
