MUHYIDDIN HINTS AT A NEW PLATFORM TO COMBAT NAJIB

Muhyiddin-Yassin
(The Sun Daily) – Axed Umno member Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today hinted that he will form a new movement to combat Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
The former Umno deputy president said the new “platform” will champion the public interest and bring the nation forward.
“With the condition of the country under Najib’s watch, we need this new political platform to give people a choice so the country’s future is always safeguarded,” Muhyiddin said during a press conference held at Universi Malaya Alumni Clubhouse here.
Muhyiddin was flanked by his wife Puan Seri Norainee Abdul Rahman and former Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
Muhyiddin however did not elaborate when asked whether this new platform would be a new political party.
“The rakyat wants a change that can fight the culture of corruption and to have a better government institution,” he said.
“The core issue is about the people, it’s not about just forming a party, we have to think on the basis of our struggle,” Muhyiddin said.
Muhyiddin, who is also Pagoh MP, said he has discussed the issue with Mukhriz who shared similar views with him.
“We need to take time to discuss our direction because we no longer have a political platform.
“We are independent parliamentarians and we now have to ensure that we have a sustainable approach. We need to speak to others. Those who share the same views and interest to face this situation the same way we do,” he said.
Meanwhile, MCA president Datuk Seri liow Tiong Lai said the party will not interfere in a Barisan Nasional component party’s internal matters.
Liow said MCA respects Umno’s decision to sack Muhyiddin and Mukhriz.
“This is internal party matter and MCA would not intervene.
“(The component parties) are all aware that members’ discipline is the most important thing,” he told a press conference after launching the Malaysian Young Farmers Cooperative annual general meeting.
Pointing that the same applies to MCA as well, Liow said MCA would also take disciplinary action against its members who violate party regulations and discipline.
