Despite ongoing reports of a possible cabinet shake-up, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi believe that there will be no major movements in the soon to be announced reshuffle, expressing confidence the exercise will only see vacancies filled.
He said that he has full confidence in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak with regard to the cabinet reshuffle.
“I'm confident that the prime minister will only fill in the vacancies of several portfolios - one post of deputy minister, one post as Sarawak minister and a vacant post in the prime minister’s department,” he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Talk has been rife that Najib will announce a cabinet reshuffle soon.
However, some are also saying that Zahid’s position position as DPM also hangs precariously.
This is following his sterling performance as election director in the twin by-elections which concluded last week.
Some had observed how Zahid had ‘upstaged’ Najib and this may cause some worries or paranoia upstairs.
Veteran newsman A Kadir Jasin had highlighted the possibility of Najib training his guns on his deputy to head off a possible coup or even an alliance between Zahid and the anti-Najib camp led by ex-premier Mahathir Mohamad.

Quoting sources, Sin Chew Daily today reported that Najib is expected to announce the cabinet reshuffle next Monday.
The upcoming cabinet reshuffle is expected to fill in the vacant spots for three ministers and two deputy ministers.
These include two ministers in the prime minister's department, one for each of the Performance Management Unit and Ecomonic Planning Unit portfolios, the vacant plantation and commodity minister and deputy minister posts, as well as the domestic trade and consumers affairs deputy minister spot.  - Mkini
