Constitutional law expert Abdul Aziz Bari is currently under investigation for urging the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers to take action following the US Department of Justice's (DOJ) 1MDB-related lawsuits.
His family accompanied him early this morning as he gave his statement at the Bukit Aman police headquarters.
According to Aziz, it has only been two days since the police report was lodged against him.
“It has just been two days and I came here early this morning to cooperate with the police because I admit that the police also have their responsibilities and they should not be ignored, ” he said.
Aziz maintained that he would give full cooperation to the police and urged other parties involved to follow suit.
He added that the issue must be handled quickly and efficiently so that other urgent matters could be addressed.
“I will answer what is needed according to the law and I think the police are doing their job professionally and I think that all parties involved including those that have made the report should also follow this professional attitude,” said Aziz.
Aziz’s statements urging the rulers to take action were made about a week ago after he accompanied Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng to lodge a police report against 1MDB.
He had warned that citizens might follow the call of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to take to the streets to urge for Najib's resignation.

This is in light of recent announcements by the DOJ that it had filed civil lawsuits seeking the return of U$1 billion in assets related to what it alleged was stolen 1MDB funds.
However, Aziz explained that his statements did not call for any violence or for the people to take to the streets.
“I did not plead for the citizens to take the issue to the streets. I said that if there is no action, people will feel frustrated, people will feel angry.
“Sometimes in those situations, anything can happen,” he said. -Mkini
