For PAS, Act 355 rally is about dignity, says Tuan Ibrahim

All PAS members have been instructed to attend the "Act 355 rally" on Feb 18 as it involved the party's dignity, said its deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Speaking during a pre-rally roadshow in Desa Pandan last night, Tuan Ibrahim also urged for all other programmes scheduled on the same date to be cancelled.
"This rally is our dignity, our party's dignity. That is why for me, for this rally, we must mobilise as many people as possible to attend.
"PAS have instructed to cancel all other programmes on that day (as) our focus is only one. Come (to the rally). Either as a participant or an officer," he stressed.
Also present at the roadshow was PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad.
Tuan Ibrahim also expressed his hope that the rally would be held in a calm and peaceful manner. He added that he hope more youths will sign up as volunteers to clean up after the rally.
"We want as many youths as possible. If possible we want to end the rally with not a single piece of rubbish left behind.
"I really want to see this become the most peaceful rally that PAS had organised, and we can do it. I am confident we can be the best example. That is why we asked to do it at Dataran Merdeka," added.
We will be peaceful
As such, Tuan Ibrahim reiterated his hope that the rally would leave a positive impression among the people, in contrast with past rallies held by others.
"If possible we do not want any negative impression like other demonstrations. We are not holding a demonstration with any marching.

"We will sit down, perform special prayers, recite praises for the prophet, listen to speeches and then disperse in an orderly and peaceful manner," he said.
Previously, PAS announced that they would be organising a mega rally with a target of gathering 300,000 people. The purpose of the rally was to show support for the passage of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Act 1965.
Abdul Hadi is seeking higher caps for punishment which can be met by the Syariah courts. The matter will be debated in the Dewan Rakyat in March.- Mkini
