Annuar raises prize for 'Kit Siang and racism contest' to RM50k

Unfazed by the police reports lodged against him, Umno information chief Annuar Musa has raised the prize money for the writing contest on DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang to RM50,000.
In a media statement this afternoon, Annuar said several quarters, especially former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had accused Lim of being a “racist, anti-Islam, anti-Malay and a dictator”.
“If you have proof, views or ideas related to this allegation, be it in the form of blog writing, media articles, short videos or infographics, please send them to me. A prize of RM50,000 awaits you.
“The material must be based on 'creative facts' (fakta kreatif) and research, it must not contravene the law,” he added.
Yesterday, Annuar told reporters in Parliament that he was offering RM10,000 as the top prize for the contest.
The contest was in response to Lim branding the Ketereh MP as the “father of racists”.
This morning, DAP filed police reports against Annuar, accusing him of inciting racial hatred and endangering the DAP veteran with his action.
Since Mahathir and Lim buried the hatchet in order to work together to defeat Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, critics have frequently reminded the pair of their acrimonious past.
During the last general election, Mahathir had called on voters in Gelang Patah to put Lim's political career in the coffin.
Mahathir, who is now chairperson of Parti Pribumi Malaysia Bersatu (Bersatu) also said that while BN had six prime ministers since independence, Lim continues to remain at the top of DAP.

It was also reported that during an indoor meeting in Permatang Pauh, Penang, Mahathir had labelled Lim as the “number one racist”.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, who was the former deputy prime minister, had also urged Gelang Patah voters to reject DAP's politics, which he described as "racist, divisive and chauvinistic".
Three years prior to this, Lim, in responding to Mahathir warning that the Malays would lose power if the opposition pact formed the federal government, described the former prime minister as “Malaysia's number one racist.”- Mkini
