LIM KIT SIANG ‘MISSING’ POSTERS APPEAR IN GELANG PATAH

Posters and banner put up near DAP’s service centre in Taman Nusa Perintis at veteran MP’s parliamentary constituency.
(FMT) – DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang is missing, according to a poster in Gelang Patah.
Posters with the message “Have you seen Uncle Lim Kit Siang?” were recently put up near DAP’s service centre in Taman Nusa Perintis in Gelang Patah.
Also found nearby was a banner that simply said: “Where is Uncle Lim Kit Siang? Gelang Patah misses you.” The banner was hung between two trees while the poster was stuck on a bus stop, next to a sign posting a job vacancy.
The poster’s full message read: “Last seen in Gelang Patah during 505 promising heaven and earth. Last known hobby was hanging out with people aged 90 and above. Missing for months if not years already. Please help to locate. We miss him a lot.”
The use of the term “505” refers to the last general election (GE13), which took place on May 5, 2013.
Meanwhile, the hobby reference “hanging out with people aged 90 and above” was a clear hint of more recent events with Lim teaming up with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad in taking on the Barisan Nasional government under Prime Minister Najib Razak.
The relationship between DAP and PPBM was further strengthened earlier this week with Pakatan Harapan, which also comprises PKR and Parti Amanah Negara, officially accepting the former prime minister’s party into the opposition coalition.
The posters and banner could simply be a bad joke or a tactical move by political rivals, but some believe it serves as a reminder for elected representatives to be close to and serve the voters who put them in Parliament or a state legislative assembly.
This is the first reported sighting of posters with such a message since the last general election. It is not known if more such posters could be appearing across the country soon in view of speculation that the next general election (GE14) may be held in a matter of months.
