Housing needs a concern for gov't, says PM Najib

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the government was concerned about the people's needs for a comfortable and affordable home.
He said housing projects built would give priority to households earning the B40 income (lowest) and M40 income (moderate) group.
"As a government, we also take note of the cost of living, public amenities and public transport.
"If we implement all these, we believe the Federal Territory folks will continue to give their trust to us," he said at the event to hand over house keys for the Federal Territory Affordable Homes (Rumawip) Residensi Pandanmas, Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur.
A total of 700 recipients received their house keys at the event.
Residensi Pandanmas with an area of 850 and 900 square feet is one of the Rumawip projects in Kuala Lumpur sold at RM280,000 and RM300,000 each.
Najib said the houses would have three bedrooms and two bathrooms and located at a strategic situation with the selling price much lower compared to the market price which could reach between RM500,000 to RM700,000.
He also congratulated the developers for being able to complete the housing project nine months earlier than the scheduled time.

"Another unique feature of the project is the cross-subsidy element where 300 squatters comprising the Indian community who had stayed here for almost 30 years would receive a new house offered at a price of RM42,000 per unit," he said.
Najib said the offer of the houses to 300 recipients was also a resettlement programme where the government would provide 100 percent loan through the Federal Territory Foundation to purchase the houses.
"Coincidentally, I had launched the Malaysian Indian Blueprint last Sunday. Today, it is proven that the blueprint is not merely empty talk but helps all groups. This is the commitment of the BN government," he added.
