Mukhriz: ‘Dominant Umno’ still failed Malay institutions

Umno being the dominant force in BN does not ensure that it can look after the Malays, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir said.
"For the Malays, maybe they like Umno to be dominant in BN, thinking Umno would defend the rights and interests of the Malays.
"But if we look at Felda, Mara, Tabung Haji, and all agencies linked to the Malays and Islam, all these are facing problems because of Umno leaders," Mukhriz is quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.
He said this when met at an Aidilfitri do in Ayer Hitam, Kedah, yesterday.
The former Kedah menteri besar was responding to Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who said Pakatan Harapan was doomed to fail with three leaders helming it.
Harapan last Thursday announced its leadership line-up, with Anwar Ibrahim as de facto leader, Dr Mahathir Mohamad as chairperson and Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as president.
Mukhriz said there was nothing wrong with having three leaders, and said it was a better leadership structure than BN's.

"I think it is time we showed a leadership structure in Harapan that gives room to all parties," he said.
Besides the top three leaders, Harapan also has three deputy presidents: Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
Mukhriz, his Amanah and PKR counterparts Salahuddin Ayub and Azmin Ali, as well as Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen, are the coalition's vice-presidents. - Mkini
