Cops question PSM Youth chief, ex-worker, over planned protest

Shah Alam police today questioned Parti Sosialis Malaysia youth chief Khalid Mohd Ismath and a former factory worker in connection with a protest planned against the latter’s alleged unlawful termination.
When contacted, Khalid said he had declined to answer around 10 questions posed under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code, with regards to plans by PSM Youth to hold a protest outside the glass factory in Shah Alam tomorrow afternoon.
"I don't understand why the police wanted to question us today when the protest has yet to take place.
"When I asked, they (police) only said there were instructions from above," he claimed.
Among others, he said the police had asked for reasons to hold the protest and what good would it bring.

"I told them that I will only answer any questions in court," he added.
Khalid further said he was questioned for about 40 minutes and the police also separately questioned the worker who was fired, Zakaria Jambri.
"They (the police) also threatened to arrest us tomorrow if we proceed to hold the protest.
"We will still go on and we are prepared for any eventualities," he said.
According to Khalid, the PSM-backed protest tomorrow will start at 2.30pm and also supported by union activists. - Mkini
