The man who was caught on video allegedly molesting a young girl at a funfair in Sungai Petani, Kedah, showed up in court this morning to be remanded with stitches on his head, reported The Star Online.
The portal quoted an unnamed police personnel, who said that the suspect was taken to the Kuala Muda district police station following his arrest at 3.10pm yesterday, looking like he had been badly bashed up.
It is yet to be determined who had beaten him up.
This morning, the suspect reportedly arrived at the courtroom complex, where he was remanded for seven days, with a black puffy eye and at least six stitches, which was apparent via a shaven spot on the right side of his head.
He is being probed under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
The man, who was known to the family of the seven-year-old victim, committed the act at a funfair in Taman Ria, Sungai Petani, between 11pm on Saturday and 1am on Sunday.
The girl's mother reportedly told the police that the suspect had come to the family house in Sungai Lalang prior to the incident and asked for their permission to take the girl out to buy food nearby.
It was only then that she saw the video clip on Facebook, in which the man was seen kissing and fondling the chest of the girl who was seated on his lap.
The woman subsequently confronted the suspect when he dropped her daughter back home about 1am on Sunday. The man reportedly left the scene quickly after apologising to her.
After the video of the incident went viral, activist Syed Azmi Alhabshi took to Facebook to urge social media users to stop circulating the video and urged them to lodge police reports instead.- Mkini
