PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said today that Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) entrants should not have to get their offer letter from Umno leaders.
"I call on Mara to stop these ceremonies that are a waste of time as the offer letter can be delivered through the post or uploaded on their website without the need of ceremonies involving Umno division leaders," he said.
Rafizi said he had received complaints from parents who had to travel to these functions with their children in order to receive the offer letter.
He noted that yesterday, one such function was also held at the Bera Umno hall which was attended by Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob (photo).
The Pandan MP added that there were also similar events involving Sungai Petani Umno and Kepala Batas Umno.
Rafizi said that such ceremonies are not only an abuse of Mara for political purposes but also draws away Mara's resources from its primary objective.
He also urged Ismail Sabri to clarify the amount of funding Mara had expended for the ceremonies.- Mkini
