'Fake news' of pig roast BN's 'weapon' in GE14, says Kit Siang

The photo showing two Pakatan Harapan leaders sitting on a table with a suckling pig roast is an example of "fake news" cooked up by BN cybertroopers, said Lim Kit Siang today.
In a statement, the DAP veteran said the photo, shared on Facebook, had been photoshopped - a fact which can easily be proven when compared to the original photograph.
"The BN regime and Umno are arming themselves with two new weapons for the 14th general election - fake news and corruption.
"(Prime Minister) Najib (Abdul Razak) and Umno/BN, are the worst culprits in concocting and peddling fake news and false information," he alleged.
Lim further claimed that the new legislation proposed by the government to handle the fake news menace was to harass and persecute Harapan leaders over fake news allegations, while at the same time, give BN/Umno leaders and supporters "immunity and impunity" for the fake news they concoct and disseminate against the opposition.

The photo Lim (photo above) was referring to showed Kedah Harapan chief Mukhriz Mahathir and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, eating at a table, where an "amateurishly" photoshopped suckling pig roast can be seen on top of one of the plates.
A Facebook user had captioned the photo with: "Nak undi Cina punya pasal sehingga sanggup makan babi. #Undi Pas."(Just for Chinese votes, they are willing to eat pork. #Vote for PAS).
Lim also pointed to another instance where DAP Selangor and Wanita leader Syefura Othman (Rara) was defamed as partaking in a Chinese festivity by helping to cut a roasted pig, when the person identified as her in the photo, was in fact, Selangor PKR exco member Elizabeth Wong.
PKR Selayang councillor Fok Wai Mun was alleged to be Rara's husband, in the photo.
Lim also accused the government of using the MACC and other outfits to paint Harapan leaders as being equally corrupt as BN leaders.
He cited the continued attacks by MCA's Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Wee Ka Siong, on the undersea tunnel project, as an example.
This, Lim claimed, was an attempt to divert attention from the 1MDB scandal.- Mkini
