Liew Vui Keong, the former president of BN component Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), has officially announced quitting his party to join Parti Warisan Sabah, along with 200 others.
He made the announcement today, accompanied by other former leaders of the LDP, according to See Hua Daily.
This follows Warisan chairperson Mohd Shafie Apdal revealing last Monday that Liew had been appointed Warisan permanent chairperson, as reported in the Borneo Post.
Shafie had also clarified that Liew did not demand to be fielded in the 14th general election.
Liew was also formerly a deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department under the Abdullah Ahmad Badawi administration.
He also became the MP for Sandakan in 2008, but lost the seat to DAP's Wong Tien Fatt in the 13th general election.
Liew also served as the LDP president from 2006 to 2014, when he was removed after a dramatic internal dispute.
LDP joined BN as a component party in 1991, but is not currently represented in the Dewan Rakyat. -Mkini
