BN pledges to sponsor mass weddings in FT manifesto

GE14 | Federal Territories BN has promised to sponsor mass weddings for at least 100 young couples annually in its election manifesto unveiled today.
Selected low-income couples will also be given financial aid of RM500 and new clothes, announced Federal Territories BN chairperson Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
The move follows Pakatan Harapan announcing a RM500 wedding allowance for young couples in its own manifesto.
The announcement drew huge cheers from BN component party members, with shouts of 'Jom kahwin' (let's get married) ringing out during the launch.
This is among the 65 initiatives announced under five thrusts of the manifesto, themed ‘Aspirasi Rakyat Agenda Kami’ (The people’s aspiration is our agenda).
Other initiatives in the manifesto include:
  • Controlling the involvement of migrants working and trading at premises owned by Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
  • Restructuring trading licence applications to make it easier for youth entrepreneurs.
  • Increasing the number of direct selling centres for suppliers and distributors.
  • Implementing job matching and internships for 100,000 youths.
  • Producing 100,000 food truck traders, and increasing one-stop centres and hotspots for food trucks.
  • Ensuring that at least 30 percent of trading premises are owned by bumiputeras.
  • Building three poultry slaughterhouses for poultry.
  • Building startup business centres and digital business hubs.
  • Ensuring maximum returns for residents' heirs in the reconstruction of Kampung Baru.
  • Implementing a free bus service that can cater for 12,000 at public housing sites in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Channelling RM50 million to the property maintanance under the Program Tabung Penyelenggaraan 1Wilayay (TP1W) for private low cost and medium low cost housing.
  • Increasing facilities for the disabled and pregnant women.
  • Building 20,000 affordable homes under the Rumawip programme for the middle income group, and making 10,000 units available for rent, including in council homes, transit homes and rumah belia.
