Hindraf 5's Manoharan hopes he doesn't end up in Zaid's shoes

GE14 | Hindraf 5 member and former Internal Security Act (ISA) detainee M Manoharan is hoping not to be left out in the cold during the 14th general election (GE14).
In a Facebook posting, the lawyer and former Kota Alam Shahassemblyperson said he had received "thunderous support" after he announced his intentions to run, but had yet to get a response from DAP on the matter.
He then listed down his past highlights, including being one of the five individuals detained under the ISA over the Hindraf rally in 2007, and contesting in GE12 despite still being under detention.
"I was even threatened that I will never be released from the ISA detention if I were to stand in the elections and (was) sure to lose... I stood firm and stood in GE12 and won.
"Hope all is not forgotten. I don’t want to be in the same shoes as my friend Zaid Ibrahim," he wrote on Facebook.
This was in reference to fellow DAP member Zaid, who had expressed disappointment with the party for not fielding him in GE14.
In 2008, Manoharan had contested the Kota Alam Shah seat under a DAP ticket and won with a majority of 7,184 votes.
He is the third and last ISA detainee to have contested and won in an election.
He was only released from detention a year later in 2009.
DAP had also fielded him for the Segambut parliament seat in 1999, a contest which he lost. - Mkini
