Ku Nan denies 40pct of BN candidates to be dropped

GE14 | Less than 40 percent of BN's candidate lineup will be dropped for the May 9 polls, the coalition’s secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said today.
Tengku Adnan was responding to a report in Singapore's Straits Times, which claimed that BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak's plans of making an early announcement of the coalition’s lineup for the 14th general election has been thwarted by "internal sabotage."
The report, titled 'Malaysia election: Early BN candidate list aborted over fears of internal sabotage', said that Najib would be changing up to 40 percent of candidates.
Tengku Adnan dismissed the report, however, pointing to BN being “meticulous” in their selection process.
"I don't think there is such problem, we are very meticulous in choosing our candidates, and we want the candidates we choose to be the candidates the rakyat want.
"We change candidates because they are not performing.
"I can't confirm (the number of candidates that will be dropped), but it is less than 40 percent," he told a press conference after announcing BN candidates for 13 seats in Federal Territories.
Tengku Adnan also said that BN already has in place a system to root out the possibility of candidates being sabotaged from within.
"We have nazir (assigned local leaders) in every parliamentary seat.
“We have system in place, so we will know who is sabotaging (the BN candidate).
"We will fire them," he said of those who are found guilty.
