PAS keeps 'em guessing on fielding Khalid Ibrahim in GE14

GE14 | Former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has appeared actively in PAS' ceramah circuit in the run-up to the 14th general election but his possible candidacy with the party remains a guessing game.
PAS had on Friday unveiled the bulk of its candidates nationwide but Khalid's name was not on any of the lists.
In total, PAS announced 126 candidates for parliamentary seats and 322 candidates for state assembly seats on Friday and another five parliamentary candidates for Sarawak yesterday.
However, PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi said this was not the end as more candidates would be announced on Wednesday, keeping the door open for Khalid.
"The question (on Khalid contesting under PAS) will be answered during the naming of candidates (this Wednesday).
"There are still a number of seats that have yet to be decided, which includes Kelantan," he told journalists in Bangi today.
Khalil also praised Khalid's commitment towards PAS.
"For information, Khalid will also be with us during the launch of a PAS event tomorrow," he said.
Khalid was formerly with PKR but became engaged in a power struggle after the party asked him to step down as the Selangor menteri besar amid complaints of party insubordination in August 2014.
He was eventually sacked from PKR. Khalid subsequently sacked all PKR and DAP exco members from the government and was able to remain as menteri besar with the backing of PAS exco members.
Khalid resigned two weeks later after it was established that he no longer commanded majority support in the state assembly and was replaced by PKR deputy president Azmin Ali. - Mkini
