SURELY ROSMAH IS NOT SUCH A ‘CONTROL QUEEN’ AS THIS: YET AIDE WANTS NURUL IZZAH TO ‘APOLOGISE IN PERSON’

PETALING JAYA – Rosmah Mansor has accepted an apology from Nurul Izzah Anwar over the PKR vice-president’s apparent lack of respect in referring to Rosmah by name.

In a Facebook posting today, Rizal Mansor, an aide to the prime minister, said it would be better if Nurul Izzah made the apology in person rather than through the media.

“There is nothing wrong in apologising in person, with a warm embrace to show one’s sincerity. This would also fit with Nurul Izzah’s image as ‘Puteri Reformasi’ (reformation princess),” he said.

Rizal said Rosmah had accepted Nurul Izzah’s apology with an open heart as this was part of Malay culture and Islamic teachings.

He urged PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and vice-president Rafizi Ramli to also apologise. “They should practice politics with ethics. Nurul Izzah has apologised. Now it’s time for Azmin, Rafizi and others who always criticise and make slanderous statements against Rosmah to also apologise,” he said.

Yesterday, Rosmah was reported to have said that she was disappointed with Nurul Izzah’s apparent rudeness. “Don’t just call me ‘Rosmah Mansor’, because I am much older than her. She should at least call me ‘aunty Rosmah’ or ‘makcik Rosmah’,” she said.

Rosmah said she had been familiar with the children of Anwar Ibrahim since Nurul Izzah was six or seven years old.

Nurul Izzah said any criticisms she herself made were based on principle, and not on personalities. She added that she would make sure she uses the title “Datin Seri” when referring to Rosmah, henceforth.
